Virginia Tech freshman

Hey, I’m Zach.

I’m a Virginia Tech freshman studying business. I help run a small junk-removal company, work on job sites, and like building things and helping people out.

About

A bit about me

I’m a freshman at Virginia Tech studying Business Administration and Management. When I’m not in class, I’m helping run Junk Gremlins, a junk-removal company I co-founded in Howard County, or working seasonal shifts at PIRTEK USA.

I like work that is both people-facing and hands-on: talking with customers, loading trailers, running a skid steer, and keeping the books in order. A lot of my equipment experience started with landscaping and woodworking projects for friends. On campus I’m part of BCM and Ducks Unlimited. I also volunteer — including a stretch at the Baltimore Tool Bank and shifts at the Maryland Food Bank.

    • Figure out how to grow the business while still being the person who shows up and does the work.

    Seasonal Technician Assistant

    PIRTEK USA · Part-time

    • Help with hydraulic hose inspections, repairs, and replacements so equipment stays running.
    • Work on the truck with technicians while I’m home from school and learn the job as I go.
    • Jump in wherever the crew needs a hand so customers get taken care of.

Featured venture

Junk Gremlins

A local junk-removal company I started with a partner. I help with the whole thing — talking to customers, loading the trailer, running equipment, and keeping the numbers straight.

  • Showing up for customers in our own neighborhood
  • Loading trailers and running equipment on the job
  • Learning how to run a small business for real

Projects

Things I take on

Independent work

Landscaping projects

Yard and site work for friends and neighbors. Grading, hauling, cleanup, and running a skid steer — that’s where I got comfortable on equipment.

  • Skid steer work on real yards
  • Hauling, grading, and cleanup for people I know
  • Outdoor jobs from start to finish

Build projects

Woodworking

I like making things out of wood — planning the build, cutting, putting it together, and finishing it so someone can actually use it.

  • Projects from idea to finished piece
  • Measuring, cutting, and assembly
  • Useful builds, not just shop class
